cortEXPlore The Upper Austrian start-up cortEXPlore is developing a new neurosurgical navigation system. Because of multiple, failsafe cameras the system is able to register exactly the patient, the surgery instruments as well as preoperatively acquired multimodal tomography data and to create a visualization for Mixed-Reality head mounted displays. The AIST research group is supporting the project by optimizing algorithms to improve those in terms of real-time performance behavior and calculation accuracy.

EDEN – Emergency Detection for Elevator Networks

EDEN – Emergency Detection for Elevator Networks The aim of the EDEN project is to use sensors and cameras to automatically detect emergencies in elevators, evaluate them in order to put them into context and take appropriate action. Based on the identified context, the system decides which persons need to be informed and which next steps should be done. For example, emergencies in private homes must be treated differently than those in public institutions or in security-related buildings such as airports. The planned developments should create a safe environment, as well as to help people with fears of elevators.

REPO – Radiology E-health PlatfOrm

REPO – Radiology E-health PlatfOrm Goal of this project is the development of a radiology system over all facilites using the austrian e-health-infrastructure. The radiology workflow, which was identified in a previous project (WIRE), should be extended by collaborative elements. Starting from the diagnosis via dictation up to the feedback-mechanism at the end of the radiology workflow, e-health-applications for improving the process and quality are planned. With this, the collaboration of radiologist, as well as other relevant healthcare facilites, should be improved.

i2f – Interface2Face Mixreality Game

i2f – Interface2Face Mixreality Game In this project, classical boardgames are extended using mixed reality technologies, allowing multiple players to interact with real and virtual elements simultaneously. Different boardgame components, like dice, the board and figures are improved with AR-technology, communication sensors and software to provide a unique, surprising and thrilling game for up to 4 different players. Said technology also allows further improvements later on during development. In this project, the requirements for such a system are evaluated, a conecpt is designed and a prototyp for testing the system is developed.

PASS – Plan Analysis using Self-learning Solutions The project PASS encompasses methods and technologies to develop a system that enables automated transformations from hand- or machine-drawn 2D construction plans into a 3D model with a special focus on simulations and analyses on that model. Research topics include classification and modeltransformation to generate data that enables simulations and calculations for the Building Information Modeling (BIM) sector.

Drive for Knowledge

Drive for Knowledge In this project Augmented Reality Glasses are used to implement a Driving Safety Training in a real car. The project is aimed at training persons in civil service (such as police, firefighters and ambulance drivers) in stressful and/or emergency situations. During the training sensors collect information on the simulation and the user, such as reaction-times vitalsigns and other data. These are provided to instructors and users as feedback for further improvement.

More The aim of the joint research project is to make the integration of menu texts smarter, so that an algorithm already makes the distinction between individual elements such as e.g. main course, appetizer, price, etc. This results in the further possibility of making an improved presentation of the menus and in addition with statistical methods could be determined the frequencies of certain foods or the combinations and incorporated into recommendation systems for end customers.

MoxUP Within the scope of the MoxUp Project, house construction plans delivered by architects, get edited for use in Virtual Reality providing an immersive insight for customers even before the first brick is set in place. The challenge thereby lays within differently structured 2D/3D data types used across the domains of industrial construction and Virtual Reality. The projects main goal is to automate the validation of such 3D models for the use in VR and if necessary indicate errors and automatically optimize respectively.

Twitch Extensions More than 2.2 million gamers stream their computer games via Twitch.TV on a daily basis (source: Twitch.TV). So called "Twitch Extensions" allow the integration of external tools and services in the Twitch.TV platform. The goal of this project ist to develop a new innovative Twitch Extension to create new ways of interaction for streamers and their viewers.
