The Genetic and Evolutionary Computation Conference, this year in Kyoto, is the largest conference in the field. While under regular attendance by our colleagues from HeuristicLab, this year Oliver Krauss was in Attendance as well. He participated in the SummerSchool (publication upcoming!), hosted by JJ Merelo, and supervised by Marc Schoenaeuer.
Oliver did present an approach to modify fitness functions for genetic improvement according to their code complexity. Details are outlined in the publication Dynamic Fitness Functions for Genetic Improvement in Compilers and Interpreters which he was able to present at the Genetic Improvement workshop.
