Our colleague Christoph Praschl had the opportunity to present the paper “Assessment of Wildlife Accident Risk using a Drone-based Population Monitoring System” from the past project cooperation with the Kuratorium für Verkehrssicherheit (KfV) in Reykjavík, Iceland, at the EUSafety2023 conference. The paper deals with the use of drones equipped with RGB and thermal imaging cameras to find and count animals near roads so that it is possible to determine the wildlife accident risk in certain areas using statistical models.
