Our former colleague Andreas Schuler has successfully completed his doctorate at the Johannes Kepler University in Linz. In his thesis “Characterizing Software Energy Consumption in Mobile Application Development to Support Third-Party-Library Selection” he dealt with the evaluation of the power consumption of programming libraries in the environment of mobile applications. This concludes the doctoral triumvirate around Emmanuel, Oliver and Andreas, each with a gap of almost exactly one year between their degrees. Even though Andreas already left the research group in March, he has contributed significantly to the current status of the group, which is why we are very happy to congratulate him on this special success. In contrast to Emmanuel and Oliver, we did not present Andreas with a sword, but with an axe – which also had to be tested immediately.
