Some traditions are just too good not to celebrate every year – including our annual team event! In recent years, we have been almost suspiciously lucky. Whether hiking, climbing or barbecuing together: The weather always meant well with us, sunshine was practically booked, and the only thing that got wet was the contents of our drinking bottles.
But this year… yes, this year Peter apparently wanted us to test our fate on the other side of the rainbow. Our destination was the archery course at TBA Treffling, idyllically situated near Riedegg Castle – a place that actually screams “Robin Hood in the sunshine”. But instead of the cheerful twittering of arrows in the balmy spring breeze, the full program awaited us: rain, heavy rain, more rain and – to top it all off – hail. (At this point, a quick salute to our rain jackets: You didn’t let us down. And an apologetic look to all those who preferred to come in sneakers).
But we wouldn’t be us if a little – or a little more – water threw us off course. With a sense of humor, hiking boots and a lot of “Now more than ever!” mentality, we made our way through the course. Each station required not only sure aim and a steady hand, but sometimes also creativity in avoiding the biggest water holes.
At the end of the day, we were soaked through, but all the more proud of ourselves and our team. What remains are not only lots of fun memories, but also the realization that we will definitely not let the weather get us down.
