Advanced Information Systems and Technology
The research group "AIST – Advanced Information Systems and Technology" conducts research on software solutions in the areas of eHealth, Machine Learning and Data Science, as well as Visual Computing.
Research areas
What we work on
eHealth
We develop software for connected, standards-based healthcare: interoperable solutions based on HL7 FHIR and IHE, process mining in hospitals and radiology, digitally supported integrated care and, increasingly, AI in clinical settings – together with partners from healthcare and industry.
Machine Learning & Data Science
We make data from industry, business and public administration usable: from knowledge bases and predictive maintenance in production and alarm management in critical infrastructure to large language models that relieve experts of text and learning tasks. Explainable, human-centred AI is a focus of its own.
Visual Computing
We work along the whole chain from image acquisition through analysis to visualisation – with a focus on drone-based wildlife monitoring in thermal and RGB imagery and on AI-supported quality inspection and 3D reconstruction in industry, complemented by mixed reality and synthetic training data.
