In eHealth, AIST develops software together with partners from healthcare and industry that makes information available where it is needed in patient care. It builds on established international standards such as HL7 FHIR and the IHE profiles: the eEKP project, for instance, maps the Austrian parent-child health record (Eltern-Kind-Pass) to structured FHIR Questionnaires, while PICA and PAIR turn the data of radiology information systems into event logs from which process mining reconstructs, monitors and improves the underlying workflows.

A second focus is integrated care. Living labs such as Lica Ried test digitally supported workflows between nursing, therapy and physicians across an entire region. Machine learning plays a growing part in this work – from the digital modelling of medical knowledge (Treetop Medical) and metabolomics analyses to trustworthy AI in clinical use.
